What is organic chemistry and why it is more important to learn it? The answer is very simple and it is visible to our naked eyes. All living organisms are made of organic chemicals. The main energy resource for human beings is carbohydrates, proteins and fats which constitutes the principal component as carbon. The clothes that we wear to express our traditional culture are made up of organic molecules – cotton, silk and polyester. Apart, we use many organic compounds to beautify our life style like toothpastes, soaps, shampoos, deodorants and perfumes.

In addition, our living style is decorated with modern furniture, paintings and plastics are organic compounds. In recent years the various pandemic diseases are controlled and cured by organic molecules which are called as medicines. Conversely, improper usage and disposal of these organic molecules pollute the environmental system which affects ecological conditions. In order to overcome those undesired effects we need an essential knowledge of those organic molecules which will help to improve the quality of life of all living things. In this regard we must learn the principles of organic chemistry by understanding the physical and chemical behavior of those organic molecules. Knowledge of organic chemistry is mandatory for anyone who wants to be a professional in the field of health sciences like physician, pharmacist, nursing, biochemist, etc.
